Neil Young Announces At-Home Streaming Concert Series “Fireside Sessions

By Cillian Breathnach

Neil Young, like many other musicians, has had to put touring plans aside for a while due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak. As an alternative, he’s announced a series of streamed ‘Fireside Sessions,’ filmed by his wife Daryl Hannah.

He posted a photo of the eponymous fireside, along with his two dogs, over on his website the Neil Young Archives. “Because we are all at gome and not many ae venturing out, we will try to do a stream from my fireplace with my lovely wife filming,” Young wrote about his plans. He also clarified that it would be a “down-home production, a few songs, a little time together.”

He’s not the only musician making the most of the time indoors – White Denim are currently planning to write, record and deliver a record in 30 days, with a vinyl pressing following as soon as possible. This came after their tour planned for the end of this month was called off.

Young did not give specific dates for the stream, saying instead to stay tuned to social media. He also used the post to remind his fans that he’s going to be leaving Facebook soon.

“We will soon be announcing the first one right here at NYA in the Times-Contrarian and on the Hearse Theater schedule, as well as social media except Facebook,” he wrote. “As we have previously announced, we are dropping Facebook very, very soon, so if you rely on FB to contact us, prepare for a change.”
